The SPEED Challenge

With the use of a kitesurfing wing and a special board it is possible to reach speeds over 55 mph!

To go fast you need very strong wind (between 40 and 50 knots) and very flat water, natural conditions not so easy to find.

where:

On the always calm waters of "Mare Morto", territory  of Cabras, in the Gulf of Oristano, Sardinia, Italy, where once docked the Phoenician's ships at Tharros, when the Mistral blew strong.

Over 2.700 years ago, in the same landscape there was the port of the city, not yet precisely located.

A new challenge ...

that takes place in this area, as well as nationwide. In fact, in Italy it is very difficult to schedule an ideal track in a set place so to reach the maximum speed with a sail. It cannot be excluded that my challenge could represent the basis for a future national and/or international Kiteboarding Speed Championship and perhaps involve other sail categories too.

An evocative challenge ...

thanks to an amazing landscape. As backdrop of the challenge:

★ the natural environment of the Penisola of Sinis and the Mistras lagune with its characteristic fauna and flora;

★ the ruins of the ancient city of Tharros in the background give a captivating and magical feeling.

An extreme challenge ...

in terms of physical training and technique necessary to reach and maintain a speed on the water close to 55 mph.

Taming the strong wind and the continuous strains of the board is necessary to gain control and avoid disastrous falls.

A challenge to share ...

to promote the sport of kiteboarding. Live video and interviews post trial can guarantee a great media exposure thanks to the mix of features above listed.

Video and photo shootings are supported by the use of all social web channels.
